Memories of Home — Solo Recital by Renowned Soprano Xu Xia at the Queen’s Theatre, New York, April 11th. The concert also features special guest performances by several other accomplished singers from the alliance, including Dr. Tian Xiaoming (baritone), Shang Bin (bass), and Wu Yu (soprano), who will perform selections from Chinese and foreign operas. This is sure to be a musical evening that combines artistic excellence with emotional warmth, a dialogue between Chinese and American cultures that conveys musical emotions, and a performance well worth the anticipation of vocal enthusiasts and music lovers alike.

Elizabeth Wu (吳郁) –
A Chinese-American soprano singer. Chair of the Sino-American Vocal Artists Alliance. Founded in 2017, the Sino-American Vocal Artists Alliance is a non-profit organization composed of outstanding professional vocalists from China and the United States, as well as singers residing in the US. She actively performs at the Metropolitan Center for the Arts in New York and in the Chinese community, receiving widespread support and praise from audiences. Wu graduated from the Guangdong Provincial Art School with a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance. She was formerly a singer with the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra. She studied opera bel canto soprano at the Juilliard School in New York. She has performed numerous times at venues such as the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Guangzhou and the Hong Kong City Hall. Since 2017, she has performed more than ten concerts at various venues in New York, including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Dedicated to promoting and disseminating Chinese music and culture, he led the alliance’s Chinese and international musicians in actively participating in charity performances, earning him an Outstanding Contribution Award from the New York City Government and the city government. During the COVID-19 pandemic in New York, he planned and directed numerous online concerts, receiving attention and praise from mainstream American media and Chinese communities. Wu Yu is the general planner and artistic director of this concert. 

Dr. Tian Xiaoming is a baritone singer residing in the United States and a renowned vocal education blogger. He currently resides in New York. He is the winner of the first “China Vocal Competition” Peacock Award Gold Medal and the Sinovision CSOC Grand Prix. He was twice selected for the Music Academy of the West Young Artists Program at the American West International Music Festival on a full scholarship, studying under the world-renowned mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne, becoming her last Chinese disciple. New York music critic Voce di Meche once described his voice as “vibrant velvety tone with refined variations of color and…” “Dynamics” (possessing both a velvety tone and a delicate, varied musical expressiveness).
Dr. Tian has long been active in the fields of opera, art song, and symphony concerts, participating in dozens of opera and concert performances, and successfully portraying many classic opera roles, including Marcello in *La Bohème*, Krusina in *The Bride Groom*, and Matisse in *Matisse the Painter*. His performances have taken him to Carnegie Hall Stern Hall, Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall, Kimmel Hall in Philadelphia, and renowned concert halls such as Harvard University and Yale University.
In the fields of art song and contemporary works, Dr. Tian maintains an important artistic collaboration with world-renowned pianist and composer Sir Stephen Hough, and in 2025 was invited to collaborate with Hough… The collaboration garnered widespread attention in the music industry, leading to numerous media interviews and reports.
Beyond the stage, Dr. Tian is actively involved in music academic activities. His interdisciplinary research across vocal music, language, and musical expression has earned him several research awards, and he has been invited to deliver keynote speeches at multiple international academic conferences. As a senior vocal expert, he has long been invited to serve as a judge and artistic mentor for numerous major vocal competitions across the United States, continuously participating in professional judging and the training of young singers. Simultaneously, he continuously conducts vocal teaching and shares professional content online, gradually building an influential vocal education brand. His videos have accumulated tens of millions of views across the internet, attracting over 300,000 followers worldwide.

Shang Bin: A bass singer based in the United States, he holds dual master’s degrees in opera performance from the Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Ukraine and the Parma Conservatory of Music in Italy, and a certificate from the Puccini Master Class in Italy. He is fluent in multiple languages, including Chinese, Russian, Italian, and English, and has performed in numerous well-known operas in Europe to critical acclaim. He currently serves as the executive principal of So Art School of the Arts in New York.

Dr. Zhou Su, a mezzo-soprano, is passionate about singing and performing. She has studied under several renowned vocal teachers and has extensive performance experience in the Chinese community. Dr. Zhou Su serves as the executive director of the concert..
