The 3rd INTL Chinese Original IP Film Festival & the Inaugural New York Global AI Film Exhibition Opening in October : Creativity & Technology Illuminate New York’s Golden Autumn

[New York, October 01, 2025] As the global hub of cultural creativity, New York will host a cultural gala that transcends the boundaries of art and technology from October 15 to 18, 2025—the 3rd International Chinese Original IP Film Festival together with the Inaugural New York AI International Film Exhibition.

This grand event is designed for Chinese-language creators, filmmakers, screenwriters, authors, technology innovators, and artists worldwide, establishing an international platform for interdisciplinary exchange and intellectual dialogue. It is not only a cross-boundary conversation between film and literature, but also a pioneering arena for the deep integration of technology and art. The festival will comprehensively showcase the innovative applications of artificial intelligence across the entire film industry chain-from script generation, virtual production, and visual effects to digital actors-highlighting both the global influence and the unlimited potential of Chinese original IP.

The organizing committee has emphasized that this year’s festival will be guided by the principle of “Originality as the Core, Technology as the Wing.” The mission is to advance the internationalization of Chinese original IP and Al cinema, building a cultural bridge that connects creativity with the future, and ushering in a new era of film art in the wave of artificial intelligence.

Three Years of Leapfrogging Growth: From “Words Electrified” to a New Global Cultural Landmark

The trajectory of the International Chinese Original IP Film Festival tells a vivid story of Chinese culture stepping onto the world stage.

When it was first founded in 2023 by writers Chen Ruilin and Shi Wei, the festival began with the theme of “Words Electrified,” aiming to create a platform for Chinese writers worldwide to transform literary IP into cinematic works. Although resources were limited in its inaugural year, it successfully attracted renowned figures such as Yan Geling, Ellen R. Eliasoph, and Mary Cao, laying a solid foundation for academic, industry, and talent exchange.

In 2024, the festival moved to Boston, hosting the high-level forum “Chinese Original IP and Future Images” at Harvard University and holding an awards ceremony at Boston City Hall. This marked a key upgrade from a single “event brand” to a diversified “content platform,” significantly enhancing thematic depth, industry collaboration, and international visibility.

In 2025, the festival arrives in New York for the first time—an expansion not only in geography but also in global outlook. As a world crossroads of art, finance, and media, New York—with the creative luxury of Fifth Avenue, the natural romance of Central Park, and the artistic passion of Broadway—resonates perfectly with the festival’s ethos of originality and cross-disciplinary integration. It creates tangible pathways for seamless connections between Chinese IP and international capital, top production teams, and global distribution networks.

Three Highlights: Multi-Dimensional Resonance of Technology, Youth, and Legacy

Highlight One: The Inaugural New York AI International Film Exhibition – Unlocking New Possibilities for the Industry With the theme “AI Reshaping the Entire Film Production Chain,” the exhibition will showcase the latest AI practices in cinema: structural modeling and character arcs in scriptwriting, virtual production studios and real-time rendering in filming, generative assets and simulation in VFX, and digital doubles and voice synthesis in performance.

The organizers will adopt an innovative “Screening + Workshop + Roadshow” model to transform algorithmic capability into narrative capability, enabling a deep integration of technology and aesthetics, and creating mutual empowerment.

Highlight Two: “Amazing Second-Generation Chinese” Global Competition – Igniting

Youth Creativity Targeting the new generation of Chinese youth worldwide, the festival will widely solicit submissions of short films, animations, documentaries, video poetry, and cross- media experimental works. It encourages young creators to present global perspectives through independent viewpoints and multilingual expression. The program builds a growth ladder of “Cultural Identity –Expressive Confidence – Global Dialogue,” supported by mentorship and roadshow mechanisms, to provide incubation opportunities that help young creators leap from concept to realization.

Highlight Three: Commemorating the 110th Anniversary of Zhao Dan – Inheriting Professional Spirit in Cinema

Through retrospectives, themed discussions, and archival showcases, the festival will pay tribute to Zhao Dan, a legendary figure in Chinese film history, and pass  down his professional spirit. This commemoration reminds the new generation of creators to orient themselves within the historical continuum, and to anchor their values firmly between the inheritance of classics and the pursuit of innovation.

Four Days of Splendor: An Immersive Feast of Ideas and Aesthetics

October 15–16: The festival begins with the “New York Film Journey.” Participants will explore Tiffany’s showcases, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Fifth Avenue, and Broadway theaters, drawing inspiration from the city’s cultural fabric and embracing the concept of “walking as research, the city as the classroom.”

October 17: The New York Film Academy will host masterclasses on directing, visual effects, and AI workflows. Industry experts including Bill Einreinhofer, Mary Cao, Shi Shaoai, and Sun Lijun will share insights on creative development, international coproduction, and global distribution. That evening, the Global AI Visual Innovation Alliance (VAINetwork.ai) will be officially launched at an opening reception in Manhattan. This initiative integrates the AI + IP model, promoting high-efficiency collaboration between academia, industry, and capital. Two IP projects have already secured seed funding of $10,000 each.

October 18: The Flushing Library Theater will host summit forums such as “Breaking Through in the AI Era of Cinema.” In the evening, the Broadway red carpet ceremony, awards gala, and the “Amazing Second-Generation Chinese” talent showcase will take place simultaneously, culminating in the grand unveiling of the inaugural New York Golden Bull Awards.

The Golden Bull trophy, designed by renowned sculptor Dr. Qiongzhao Ellen Schicktanz, comes in two versions—abstract and figurative—symbolizing both future innovation and present perseverance. As Dr. Schicktanz remarked: “The New York Golden Bull Award is not merely an honor but a transmission of spirit—whether in artistic creation or technological breakthroughs, one must persist with the resilience, determination, and forward drive of a bull.”

After three years of development, the International Chinese Original IP Film Festival has evolved from a literary-film exploration into a comprehensive system of Academia – Industry – Internationalization, becoming a cultural brand with distinctive recognition and global influence.

Using New York as a hub, the festival will collaborate with global institutions and universities to establish sustainable incubation and co-production mechanisms. Key initiatives include:

• Launching an annual producer program to support both genre films and auteur cinema.

• Establishing a youth experimental unit to foster creators’ growth from short films to mid-length works to feature films.
