“Prince of Love Songs International Host” Wang Guoquan Attends UN CSW70 Opening Ceremony, Marking Historic Milestone for Mainland Chinese Male Participation
New York, March 9, 2026 – Prince John (Wang Guoquan), the renowned international host and singer officially honored with the title “Prince of Love Songs International Host” through separate certificates from the New York State Senate and the New York City Council, attended the opening ceremony of the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) at United Nations Headquarters today. Nominated independently by the UN MCIF, a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit NGO, and formally approved by the UN Women CSW Secretariat, he becomes the first Chinese mainland-born male of Chinese descent approved as an official representative through a purely foreign NGO channel in CSW’s 70-year history.
The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), a functional commission of the UN Economic and Social Council, promotes global gender equality and women’s empowerment. This session’s priority theme is “Ensuring and Strengthening Justice for All Women and Girls,” bringing together representatives from 193 Member States and global NGOs. Historically, CSW has been predominantly female-led, with male representation minimal; independent male NGO representatives from Asia, particularly mainland China, have been exceptionally rare. Wang’s accreditation signifies a landmark breakthrough for Chinese male engagement in the UN’s global gender equality agenda.
Holding a UN Grounds Pass, Wang participated in sessions at the General Assembly Hall, listening attentively to statements from national delegates. He stated: “Human connections in an international perspective transcend national borders. Every voice raised for fairness is a tangible contribution to global women’s rights.”
Wang is scheduled to remain in New York for approximately two months to fully engage in CSW70 proceedings. This participation builds upon his two historic “firsts” at CSW69 in 2025: the first Chinese national to host an official event at UN Headquarters, and the first Chinese man to perform on the stage of the UN Women’s Conference Fashion Show.
