Richard Li, Ph.D.

International Business Negotiation Expert | Entrepreneur | Author Richard Li, Ph.D., is an internationally

recognized expert in business negotiation, a cross-border entrepreneur, and an accomplished author.

For more than four decades, he has been dedicated to the study and practice of international business

strategy, cross-cultural communication, mergers and acquisitions, investment cooperation, and global

business development.

He has earned broad recognition for his extensive experience and influence in U.S.–China business

collaboration and international negotiations. Dr. Li graduated from the Department of Electronic

Engineering at Tsinghua University before pursuing advanced studies in the United States, where he

earned his Ph.D. in Engineering.

Throughout his distinguished career, he has remained at the forefront of technological innovation,

corporate leadership, international investment, and global entrepreneurship. He has founded and led

multiple companies and organizations spanning high technology, intelligent manufacturing, real estate

investment, international trade, auctions, education, cultural exchange, and think tank research.

Over the years, he has directed and participated in numerous cross-border investments, mergers and

acquisitions, technology partnerships, and major international business negotiations, building

extensive practical expertise in facilitating cooperation between Chinese and American enterprises and

integrating global resources.

Drawing upon decades of international business experience, Dr. Li has developed his own Structural

Negotiation Theory, a comprehensive framework that integrates strategic thinking, interest-based

analysis, cultural intelligence, psychological dynamics, and systems-based decision making.

The theory provides a practical and systematic methodology for managing complex business

negotiations, cross-cultural communication, and international cooperation. It has become the

foundation of his professional consulting, executive education, keynote speeches, and published works.

Beyond the business world, Dr. Li has long been committed to education, cultural exchange, and public

service.

He founded the U.S.–China Education and Culture Foundation, through which he has actively promoted

educational collaboration, business exchanges, and people-to-people understanding between the

United States and China.

He has been invited to deliver keynote speeches in New York, Beijing, and other international venues on

topics including global business, innovation and entrepreneurship, cross-border investment, and

international negotiation.

A prolific author, Dr. Li has published numerous books, including Doing Business in America, Investing

in America, and Here Is Harvard. He is also the author of the acclaimed Negotiation Series, consisting of

The Art of Modern Business Negotiation, International Negotiation, Parent-Child Negotiation, and

Negotiation Arena: Extreme Negotiation. Combining decades of international business experience with

modern management thinking, his works offer entrepreneurs, executives, negotiators, and emerging

business leaders practical insights grounded in both theory and real-world application.

His publications have also contributed to the broader understanding and application of modern

negotiation principles in business, education, and public leadership.

Dr. Li firmly believes that negotiation is far more than a business skill—it is a means of connecting

cultures, building trust, and creating shared value. In an era shaped by globalization and artificial

intelligence, he continues to advocate open collaboration, innovative thinking, and long-term

partnership as essential principles for advancing cross-cultural dialogue and international cooperation.

Through both his ideas and his practice, he is committed to helping build a more trusted, collaborative,

and sustainable global business community.

“The greatest negotiation is not one that wins a deal, but one that earns lasting trust. The

most enduring partnership is not built on the exchange of interests, but on the creation of shared

value.”
