Introduction to Fang Shujiu’s Art
Fang Shujiu was born in Anhui Province, China in the year 43. I graduated from Nanjing Academy of Arts Affiliated Middle School and the Department of Fine Arts at Wuxi University of Light Industry and entered the art world. Before coming to the United States, he was an associate professor and director of art research at Suzhou Urban Construction and Environmental Protection College. After coming to the United States, he went to the Akdia Academy of Fine Arts for further studies and was appointed as an art professor by Liqi University of Science and Technology, an honorary researcher at the Canadian Cultural Renewal Center (Institute), a visiting professor at Southeast University and Tsinghua University in China, an honorary dean of the Beijing Heritage Creation and Painting Academy, and an executive director of the National Soul Culture and Art (Beijing) Museum. He was also specially appointed as a national first-class artist and a national guest gift artist
He currently resides in New York and serves as the Dean of the Kowloon Art Research Institute, Director of the East West Art Center, Executive Chairman of the International Overseas Chinese Culture and Arts Federation, Honorary President of the American Chinese Painting Society, President of the American Dafengtang Art Research Association, Vice President of the New York Poetry, Painting, Piano and Chess Association, and the first Dean of Calligraphy and Painting
He is a versatile artist. His unique style of a hundred dragon horses was selected, and he created the “China’s first stele gallery of a hundred horses – Fang Shujiu’s stele of a hundred horses, which filled a gap in the history of art. He was invited by the state to create giant White Marble granite reliefs for the First Military Museum, and created more than ten large-scale urban sculptures for the central attractions of many cities
He is a disciple of the famous painters Zhang Shanma and Zhang Daqian, and he is particularly good at drawing animals. He also raised and painted tigers, using different animal images of tigers and other animals to depict the main characters in the four famous Chinese literary works, which is unprecedented in the history of painting. He also “grazed and painted horses, expressing emotions through horses”… Many of his works have been exhibited at the United Nations and more than 20 countries, receiving high praise and being hailed as the “Tiger King Shenjun, the treasure of China”. Many of his works have been collected by the United Nations, President Reagan of the United States, the King of Thailand, and many universities, museums, and other countries. The first set of giant panda name cards and postal panda first day covers published by Global Distribution in the United States were also created by him.
In addition to winning the “Gold Award” at the World Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Grand Prix held in the United States, he has also been awarded the “Lifetime Achievement Award” in American art, the “Republic Meritorious Artist” in China, and the “International Meritorious Artist” honorary certificate from Singapore. In addition, the President of the Picasso Museum and the Royal Society of Artists in Spain, along with the presidents of two universities, jointly awarded him the certificate of “Outstanding Mentor” and the Golden Globe trophy.
His overseas Chinese art theory and works were highly praised by experts and professors both at home and abroad at the “International Academic Symposium on Fang Shujiu’s Works” held at Columbia University in the United States. The seminar has established connections with over 60 universities around the world, including Harvard, Yale, Cambridge, and Oxford, and has had a profound impact
He is a conscientious and thoughtful artist, and his key works have been included in the book “History of Modern and Contemporary Chinese Art”. He is listed in the “World Celebrity List”, and his achievements have been included in multiple monographs such as “Monument to History” jointly published by multiple countries.
